The criteria for admission are not complicated. We are willing to help anyone who needs our help. There are just a few points to keep in mind.
- The client cannot be someone who would destroy properties.
- He or she cannot be someone who would hurt others or himself or herself.
- It is best if the client comes to our facility of his own accord. Sometimes, a client might not be willing to come. In this case we try to coax him by saying that he or she should just come for a week or two to check it out. No one will force the client to do anything they don't want to do.
If the client is on psychiatric medications and intends to get help to come off them, we will schedule an appointment with the doctor. It usually takes a week or two. Therefore it would be best to make the appointment as soon as possible, even schedule it before the client arrives.
The doctor will require the medical records of the client. They should be obtained before the client arrives if possible or as soon as possible. We will not be able to begin the reduction of the medications without the medical records and the doctor's visit.
If the client has been on drugs for a long time, we require that he be at the Life Center for a week prior to start the reduction. If the client is agitated or if we judge that he might require more time to calm down, we will work with the doctor to establish the best time to begin the reduction.
